UNBC Intramurals is a student-run program at the University of Northern British Columbia in Prince George. We organize drop-in nights, structured leagues, and one-day tournaments across 12 sports — and we’ve been doing it since 2003.
Why we exist
Sport at UNBC isn’t only varsity. The intramurals program exists so every student — from first-year residence to grad-school finalists — has a low-friction way to stay active, meet new people outside their program, and play competitively without the commute. Most of our nights are free with a valid student card.
From three sports to twelve

- 2003 Program founded by the UNBC Students’ Union with three sports: soccer, volleyball, basketball.
- 2008 Northern Sport Centre opens; intramurals moves into the new gym and turf field.
- 2014 Officiating program formalized — paid student referees, mentor system.
- 2020 Outdoor pickleball and spike-ball added; program weathers the pandemic with cohort-based leagues.
- 2026 Now serving 1,400+ students across 12 sports and 4 league tiers.
